Conditions List

ADHD, ASD, Autism, and Related Issues

Common Symptoms

  • Anger outbursts
  • Hyperactivity
  • Poor sleep in children
  • Bedwetting in older children

Hyperactivity and neurodevelopmental disorders are linked to a lack of energy in the nervous system and improper brain function. A common misconception is that hyperactive children have excess energy. In reality, they lack energy in their nervous system, which prevents them from focusing on tasks.

To maintain focus, the nervous system requires sufficient energy. The same applies to falling asleep on time and experiencing uninterrupted, deep sleep. In children with these difficulties, their bodies struggle to generate enough energy, leading to persistent challenges.

Symptoms by Condition

ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)

  • Inattention (difficulty focusing, easily distracted)
  • Hyperactivity (constant movement, impulsivity)
  • Self-regulation issues (anger outbursts, inappropriate behavior)

ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and Autism

  • Difficulties with social communication
  • Sensory sensitivities (intolerance to certain sounds, textures, or smells)
  • Repetitive behaviours (stereotypical movements, intense focus on specific topics)

The Link Between Hyperactivity, Autism, and Mitochondria

Hyperactivity, autism, and autism spectrum disorders are mitochondrial disorders. Mitochondria are the energy producers of the body, and when they don't function properly, it leads to neurological and behavioural challenges.

Hypo-thyroidism, Autoimmune Thyroiditis (Low Thyroid Activity)

The thyroid gland is a small, butterfly-shaped organ located at the front of the neck. It produces hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3), which regulate metabolism, growth, and the body's energy balance. When the thyroid gland does not produce enough hormones, a condition called hypothyroidism develops. One of the most common causes of hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroiditis, where the immune system attacks the thyroid tissue, leading to its gradual damage and decreased function.

Symptoms:

  • Symptoms develop slowly and may be subtle.
  • Fatigue and sleepiness
  • Weight gain (even with unchanged diet)
  • Feeling cold (reduced tolerance to cold)
  • Dry skin and brittle hair
  • Constipation
  • Swelling of the face and eyelids
  • Rare or irregular menstruation in women

Recommended Supplements:

Dietary Recommendations: It is recommended to switch to a low-carb diet to support thyroid health and improve energy levels.

Hyper-thyroidism (Increased Thyroid Activity)

Hyperthyroidism is a condition where the thyroid gland produces an excessive amount of hormones T3 (triiodothyronine) and T4 (thyroxine), which accelerates metabolism and causes various health problems. The most common cause of hyperthyroidism is Graves' disease (an autoimmune disorder), but it can also be caused by excessive iodine intake, thyroid nodules, or thyroid inflammation (thyroiditis).

Symptoms:

Hyperthyroidism accelerates metabolism, leading to the following symptoms:

  • Nervousness, anxiety, irritability
  • Sudden weight loss (even with normal eating habits)
  • Fast or irregular heart rate
  • Excessive sweating, warm and moist skin
  • Muscle weakness, hand tremors
  • Insomnia
  • Diarrhoea or more frequent bowel movements
  • Increased appetite
  • Hair loss
  • Enlarged thyroid
  • Eye problems (in Graves' disease) – bulging eyes, irritation, dryness

Premature / Precocious Puberty in Girls

Precocious puberty is a condition where the developmental changes typical of puberty begin prematurely, that is, earlier than usual. In girls, this usually means that puberty starts before the age of 8. Puberty involves various physical, hormonal, and emotional changes such as breast development, menstruation, hair growth, and more. An early onset of these changes can affect the child's development.

Symptoms:

  • Rapid growth: Girls may start growing faster than is typical for their age, which can lead to premature closure of growth plates (i.e., stopping growth early).
  • Breast development: Formation of breasts and enlargement of the mammary glands, which is one of the first signs of puberty.
  • Hair growth: Appearance of pubic and underarm hair.
  • Menstruation: Onset of the first period before the age of 8 (although this is not always the case with every precocious puberty).
  • Changes in body shape: Changes in body shape, such as changes in fat distribution and hip growth.

Recommended Supplements:

For proper hormonal activity, liver function is crucial. Lecithins, B vitamins, and adequate magnesium are necessary for this. Artichokes and plants with high magnesium content, such as dandelion and cress, are helpful. Vitamins C, E, minerals like selenium, and enough high-quality proteins also support liver function. Oestrogen levels can be reduced by physical activity, so regular movement is important.

Avoiding Harmful Chemicals: Various softeners used in plastics, like phthalates and bisphenol A, and preservatives in cosmetics can negatively impact hormonal development. These substances are harmful and can disrupt the hormonal system, entering the body from soft plastics such as through touch. Sources include food wraps, toys, plastic bottles, PVC floors, plastic windows, and detergents. To minimize exposure to these chemicals, opt for natural cosmetics without preservatives, glass bottles, and store food in glass containers whenever possible.

Pesticides and Heavy Metals: Pesticides, commonly used today, can also harm the hormonal system. Quercetin helps neutralize them. It's essential to wash food thoroughly to remove pesticide residues. Organic produce can be an alternative. Another protective measure is mummy (shilajit), which contains organic humic acids that bind to pesticide residues and expel them through stool.

Heavy metals can also disrupt hormonal balance. Everyday items, like paraffin candles or aluminium foil used in cooking, can introduce lead and aluminium into the body. When gut microbiota is damaged, aluminium can enter the body through leaky gut. A dairy-free, low-carb diet with moderate intake of sweet fruits is recommended.

Create a Non-toxic Environment:
It's important to create a non-toxic home environment by using safer cleaning and hygiene products, filtered drinking water, and chemical-free personal care products.

✔️ Sleep problems (snoring)
✔️ Recurring colds and sinus infections
